Luisangel Acuña’s Stellar Winter League Stats: A Future Star for the Mets

New York Mets highly-touted prospect Luisangel Acuña continues to mash in Venezuelan Winter League ball with the Cardenales de Lara baseball team, to the tune of .337 and a .914 OPS with three home runs, 17 RBI and 18 stolen bases while playing shortstop, second base and center field, according to MLB’s X’s account.

With Francisco Lindor blocking Acuña’s path to shortstop in MLB, his likely destination could be at second base or the outfield for New York. Or be part of a trade for some pitching.

Furthermore, he seems to be too good to not be playing in MLB sooner rather later.

At the MLB level, Acuña smacked 308 with a triple, two doubles, three home runs, and a stellar .966 OPS over 14 contests, while playing a solid shortstop in Francisco Lindor‘s absence near the end of the 2024 regular season.

Acuña possesses the potential to be a 30-30 guy someday, so Met fans would like to see him in the blue and orange uniform.

Let’s see how this plays out while he crushes baseballs in South America.
