New York Mets Ink Pitcher Griffin Canning to a One-Year Deal

The New York Mets are in agreement in the signing pitcher Griffin Canning to a one-year, $4.25 million contract, today senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal reported.

Ganning, 28, posted a 25-34 record with a 4.78 ERA in 99 games, 94 of which were starts, with the Los Angeles Angels from 2019-24. The Angels dealt him to the Atlantic Braves for Jorge Soler on October 31, but the club non-tendered him.

The Angels selected Ganning in the 2nd round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft out of the University of California, Los Angeles.

It seems the Mets will have Ganning compete for a spot in their starting rotation, but he could be a useful piece in their bullpen as well.
