My Christmas Miracle: A Batman Surprise 51 Years Later

When I was five years old, growing up in Brooklyn, all I wanted for Christmas was a Batman action figure.

I loved him and watched Batman and Robin all the time. I thought he was the coolest superhero out there. Who doesn’t?

I figured Santa Claus would slide down the chimney we did not own and leave the cape crusader underneath it. It was just a kid’s simple dream.

However, when Christmas morning rolled around that day, there was no sight of Batman anywhere–not underneath the tree, not behind the sofa; he was nowhere to be found. Trust me, I looked everywhere.

Unfortunately for me, dejected, disappointed and all, I stopped believing in in Saint Nick right then and there, at only five, mind you.

Fast forward to Christmas 2024, after telling my story to anyone who would listen, I received a grand surprise gift of Batman, the Dark Knight Combat version, from my girlfriend’s Maggie’s 21-month-old grandson, Ashton. He now owns four Batmans, so he felt I should have one of my very own.

I was so happy and overjoyed, that it made waiting 51 years for the dark superhero to finally grace my home on Christmas Eve. But this Batman is not coming out of the box to preserve its value, so I will be purchasing another one with which to play anytime I feel like it.

Yes, it is a Christmas miracle in my eyes, for sure. So do not ever give up on your faith during this beautiful holiday season.

Happy Holidays, y’all.
