Blair Academy Star Deron Rippey Jr. Picks Up Tar Heel Men’s Hoops Offer


Class of 2026 Blair Academy (N.J.) guard Deron Rippey, Jr. has received a Division I offer from the historic North Carolina Men’s basketball program, yesterday his dad, Deron Rippey, Sr. wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Brooklynite holds offers from Wake Forest, Syracuse, Bryant, Stanford, Binghamton, LIU, Fordham, Hofstra, St. John’s, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Villanova, George Washington, Illinois, among others, according to VerbalCommits.com.

Rippey Jr.’s DNA is lined with basketball talent, as his dad, Deron Sr., played at East Carolina University, where he averaged 6.8 points, 2.9 boards and 2.2 helpers per contests with a field goal percentage of 48%.

Rippey Jr. has scored 107 points, grabbed 21 rebounds, and dished out 23 dimes through five contests so far this season.

The Tar Heels are 8-5 overall and 1-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference thus far in 2024-25 campaign.
