A pair of Long Island City High School (Queens, N.Y.) football players — Billy Fuiaxis and Angel Yearwood — have picked up offers from Division III Hartwick football program, per their X accounts, formerly known as Twitter.
Fuiaxis, a senior who manned the running back, wide receiver and linebacker positions, was an integral part of the Bulldogs team, finding several different ways to make an impact on the gridiron.
He hit pay dirt five times on the ground, and then pulled down three touchdown passes during the regular season. He also returned eight kickoffs for 289 yards (36.13 average). Then, the senior returned three more kickoffs for 122 yards (40.67 average), with two going for scores in the playoffs.
Also, Fuiaxis threw for a TD in the post-season. Defensively, he made 29 tackles in the 2024-25 campaign.
Fuiaxis’ excellent kickoff efforts earned him the Public School Athletic League (PSAL) lead in average per return.
Additionally, a captain on LIC, he is coachable and a good leader on and off the field, according to his head coach Joe Giardina.
Yearwood, a senior, played on the offensive and defensive lines, recording 40 tackles, seven for a loss, three sacks, two quarterback hurries, and recovered three fumbles during the 2024-25 regular campaign. Also, he made two stops during the playoffs.
Hartwick posted a 2-8 overall record and went 1-6 in Empire 8 Conference action in the 2024-25 campaign.
