The Sussex County Miners have signed infielder/outfielder Mahki Backstrom for the upcoming 2025 Frontier League season, the team recently announced on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Last year, the 6-foot-5 left-handed slugger played with the Great Falls Voyagers of the independent Frontier League, hitting .350 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI with a 1.132 OPS in 177 at-bats in 45 games.
The Atlanta Braves selected Backstorm, 23, in the 18th round of the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California.
Backstorm spent parts of five seasons with the Braves minor league system, making it all the way to the High-A Asheville Tourist.
