The Lexington Legends have signed veteran pitcher Victor Capellan and rookie pitcher Will Carsten for the upcoming 2025 independent Atlantic League season, the team announced on social media today.
Capellan, 35, split last season with the Milwaukee Milkmen and the Legends, going 3-4 in 47.2 innings of work.
Capellan has spent 17 seasons in professional baseball, reaching as high as Triple-A Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks) in 2012.
Also, he has played with teams such as the York Revolution, Staten Island FerryHawks, Winnipeg Goldeneyes and Leones del Escogido.
Carsten, a 6-foot-7, 246-pound right-handed pitcher, played two seasons at the University of Oklahoma, going 1-4.
Prior to the Sooners, he pitched for McLennan Community College. As a freshman at McLennan in 2021, Carsten made 16 appearances, 15 starts, recording a 10-1 record with two complete games, a 3.63 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 68.1 innings of work.
The San Antonio, Texas, native helped the Highlanders to the National Junior College Athletic Assocation (NJCAA) national championship that same campaign.
