Stella Ziogas’ 27 points was not enough for New Rochelle High School (NY) girl’s basketball team to defeat New York powerhouse and No. 1 seeded Albertus Magnus in the Section 1, Class AAA playoffs quarterfinals on Friday night.
The Huguenots fell to the Falcons, 80-55, as the gifted Julia Scott scored a game-high-tying 27 points to lead the Falcons to victory.
Riley Harold and Tess Dorry scored 12 points apiece in the win.
Ziogas, a junior guard, added eight rebounds and three steals in the loss.
Ziogas finished her impressive season with an average of 23.5 points, 6.8 assists, 6.1 rebounds, 5.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.
Ziogas now turns to her talented AAU squad, Team Lightning Melious, in which she will lead it on the UA Rise Circuit this spring.
Albertus Magnus did everything right, as it dished out 24 assists and nailed 12 three pointers to surge past New Rochelle.
The Falcons will square off against Suffern on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the County Center.
