When outfielder Jake Mangum played with the Tampa Bay Rays today in their 6-4 win over the Colorado Rockies, he became the 104th former Brooklyn Cyclones, the short-season Single-A affiliate of the New York Mets at the time, to make it to MLB.
Mangum, 29, went 0-3 after enduring five years in the minor leagues with three different organizations, including the Mets, Marlins and Rays.
After New York selected Mangum in the 4th round of the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Mississippi State University, the team shipped him to Brooklyn, where he hit .247 with 18 RBI, five doubles, and two triples in 182 at-bats in 53 games.
Mangum holds a .296 batting average with .424 slugging percent, 24 longballs and 208 runs batting in, in 1678 at-bats for his minor league career.
