Yet another former Brooklyn Cyclone (High Single-A New York Mets affiliate) has made his MLB debut (105th Cyclone to date), as Chicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Mike Vasil tossed two scoreless innings in its 9-0 win over the Minnesota Twins today at home at Rate Field.
Vasil, 25, posted a 1-1 record with a 5:13 ERA in 33.1 innings of work in eight game starts with Brooklyn in 2022.
The Boston, Mass., native put up a 17-18 mark with a 4.90 ERA in 336.1 frames in 76 contests across four minor league seasons in the Mets’ system.
The White Sox claimed Vasil off of waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays on March 23rd after the Philadelphia Phillies traded him to the Rays for cash on that same day.
Philadelphia purchased Vasil’s contract from New York in the Rule 5 Draft on December 11th.
The Mets picked Vasil in the 8th round of the 2021 MLB June Amateur Draft out of the University of Virginia.
