It is a very exciting day for Division I Siena College (N.Y.) Women’s basketball program, as it has announced the commitments of two special players: Nicole Melious and Alexis Rosenfeld, today both ladies announced on social media.
Melious, a former Public School Athletic League (PSAL) Wagner High School (Staten Island, (N.Y.) sensation, saw limited action at Seton Hall due to injury last year as a sophomore. A red-shirted sophomore, she will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Melious, who owns a lethal three-point shot, shined at La Salle as a freshman, leading the Explores in scoring with a 10.9 points per game average. Plus, the 5-foot-8 guard made the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, was fifth in the A-10 Conference with three pointers made, and was top 50 in threes made in all of NCAA.
As for Rosenfeld, the 6-foot-2 rising sophomore, who played high school basketball at powerhouse Morris Catholic in New Jersey, also saw limited hardwood time with the Jaspers.
In high school, however, Rosenfeld was a force of nature on the court, earning an All-Morris County Team honor as a senior, was the No. 1 ranked center in New Jersey in 2024, and a two-time state champion at the Denville, N.J. school.
The Saints and both players appear poised to thrive in a mutually beneficial hoops partnership moving forward. Melious has showcased remarkable shooting and play-making skills, while Rosenfeld’s size and strong defensive presence in the paint add valuable depth to the program, further enhancing its overall strength.
Siena posted a 17-14 overall and went 14-6 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action in the 2024-25 campaign.
