Team Lightning Melious secured a thrilling victory over the Southern Stars at The Clash UA Rise AAU Tournament in Ohio, thanks to last-second heroics from Amaya Ross.
With about 10 seconds remaining in the affair, Stella Ziogas skillfully dribbled up the court before finding Ross, who sealed the deal with a dramatic buzzer-beater.
Rising junior guard Lauren Leon (Brewster High School/N.Y.) led the offensive charge with 18 points, while Siena College commit and rising senior point guard Ziogas (New Rochelle High School/N.Y.) contributed 17 points and facilitated the hardwood action with leadership and excellence, evident by the final play of the game.
New Dorp High School’s (Staten Island N.Y.) 6-foot Ross enjoyed a huge game with a remarkable eight-point, six-block, 23-rebound performance, including the game-winning bucket. Reese Sebok (Arthur L Johnson High School/N.J.) added 12 points in the win.
