Staten Island’s Casey McKinney Receives NAIA Offer from CSUMA Hoops


Team Lightning Melious and Wagner High School (Staten Island, N.Y.) rising senior small forward/power forward Casey McKinney has received an offer from National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I California State University Maritime Academy (CSUMA) Women’s basketball program, today her AAU coach Dan Melious wrote on X.

Additionally, the 5-foot-10 Staten Island native holds offers from DII Pace University and DII Lander University.

McKinney registered a double-double of 16 points and 17 boards with Team Lightning Melious at the Beast of the East AAU Girl’s Hoops Tournament on Saturday.

In high school, McKinney averaged 15.5 points, 9.77 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in 13 contests during the 2024-25 Public School Athletic League (PSAL) regular season, while helping the Falcons to a 9-5 league record.

In the PSAL girl’s hoops playoffs, McKinney scored 17 points, grabbed 13 boards, and dished out four helpers in Wagner’s 66-44 defeat to Tottenville in the second round.

The Keelhaulers put up a 6-19 overall mark and went 1-9 in California Pacific Conference (CalPac) action in the 2024-25 campaign.
