It would an understatement to say Lexington Legends outfielder Dylan Rock, well, rocks.
Rock had clubbed a home run in eight straight games, tying a professional baseball record, which four other players have previously achieved.
However, the 26-year-old did not break the record last night, falling just short in the Legends’ 8-7 defeat against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in Atlantic League, an MLB partner league, action.Â
With one last opportunity to crack a longball in the ninth inning, Rock hit a come backer to the Blue Crabs pitcher, ending his record-setting attempt at eight. He wound up going 0-for-3 with an RBI, walk and strikeout for the night.
Rock’s eight-game home run streak was an incredible feat, nonetheless.
He has hit .268 with 13 homers, 32 RBI, and an impressive OPS of .902 through 183 at-bats in 52 contests thus far this season.
The Toronto Blue Jays selected Rock in the 8th round of the 2022 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Texas A&M University.
