With their first selection in the 2025 MLB Draft, 38th overall, the New York Mets went the college route, and picked infielder/pitcher Mitch Voit out of the University of Michigan, according to several reports.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Voit slashed .346/.471/.668 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI in 208 at-bats in 53 games as a junior with the Wolverines this past season.
Voit, 20, was a two-way player earlier in his college career, but it does not seem likely he will make a return to the mound.
MLB Pipeline’s Draft board had him rated as the 63rd best prospect. Before college, Voit attended Whitefish Bay High School in Milwaukee, Wis.
