Brooklyn Football Club FC has signed standout defender Jordan Thompson from Sydney FC’s Australia’s A-League Women squad for the upcoming 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League campaign—a USL property—pending league and federation approval, the team recently announced in a press release.
Brooklyn FC’s competitive drive and commitment to winning a title motivated Thompson to ink with the club.
“From my first conversations with the staff, I could tell Brooklyn FC is building something with real intention,” Thompson said in a press release. “I’m proud to bring my experience to a club that values purpose, culture, and competing at the highest level. I can’t wait to get started and help bring a championship to Brooklyn.”
Thompson, 26, was a cornerstone of Sydney’s championship-winning squad in 2024, starting every match while being the linchpin of one of the league’s most formidable defenses.
Thompson, a California native and former Gonzaga University standout, became the first player to be chosen in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft, taken by the Washington Spirit in 2022.
She finished her collegiate career with 81 starts, over 7,100 minutes played, and a program-record 54 career victories, becoming the winningest player in Gonzaga history.
Off the pitch, Thompson is a certified Sports Nutrition Coach and the founder of @eazyeatznutrition, in which she shares performance-based guidance and healthy recipes with fellow athletes such as herself. Also, she remains active and dedicated in youth development as a mentor and alum of ZAGW Soccer, supporting the next generation of players through coaching and nutrition education.
Brooklyn FC is one of the eight inaugural teams of the Gainbridge Super League, a Division One professional women’s soccer league.
Brooklyn FC’s home opener is Sunday, August 23.
