St. Joseph’s Brooklyn Offers Louisiana HS Basketball Prospect Ella Ashcraft

St. Joseph’s Brooklyn DIII Women’s basketball program has offered West Monroe High School’s (West Monroe, La.) Ella Ashcraft, a class of 2026 5-foot-10 guard/forward, today head coach Joe Giacchi told me.

If Ashcraft decides to commit to the Bears, the program will hold a roster spot her.

Ashcraft, who also suits up for Southern Elite AAU squad, holds offers from National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ (NAIA) Crowley’s Ridge College and Stephens College, D3 Austin, Millsaps, Vermilion, and East Texas Baptist Colleges. Plus, Southern University Shreveport Louisiana (Division I National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Region 23, per her X account.

Giacchi praised the Louisiana native not only for her hoop skills, but as an overall young person who, he said, has a world of potential at her fingertips, both as a student-athlete and person in the ‘Borough of Kings.’

“Tall and long, (she) can shoot from all over the floor,” Giacchi explained. “(She has a) good nose for the ball, always in the right spot and a really high basketball IQ. Unlimited upside and potential. Great player, but (she’s) even a better kid. (She) would thrive in Brooklyn.”
