Staten Island’s Rising Star Emily Salafia Receives NAIA Basketball Offer from Tennessee Southern

Emily Salafia of St Joseph by-the-Sea High School (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Team Lightning Melious has picked up an offer from National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Tennessee Southern Firehawks Women’s basketball program, today she posted on X.

Additionally, the athletic rising junior holds offers from D-1 Chicago State, D-II Fort Lauderdale, and NAIA Coastal Georgia, per previous articles I wrote. Plus, she holds offer from Marymount college in Virginia to play flag football.

Coming off impressive spring and summer AAU seasons, the 5-foot-6 guard is making a lasting impact on the hardwood due to her excellent court vision, coupled with her solid mid-range jumper and defensive-backbreaking floater, which is effective against taller opponents. Add in Salafia’s high hoops IQ and ability to handle the spotlight, and nothing seems impossible for this young, budding standout hooper.

Tennessee Southern had put up a 13-9 mark and went 11-5 in Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) action this past season.
