Syracuse Mets Pitcher Shines with Seven Scoreless Innings, Named Team’s Player of the Week

After firing seven innings of scoreless ball against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railroaders (Triple-A Yankees), the Syracuse Mets (New York Mets) have named pitcher Brandon Sproat as its Player of the Week.

The right-handed Sproat permitted just three hits and two walks while striking out nine batters in 91 pitches, 58 of which were strikes.

The 24-year-old has posted an 8-6 record with a 4.24 ERA while striking out 113 batters and allowing only nine home runs in 121 innings of work thus far this season.

But Sproat’s recent performances could have the Mets summoning him for a September call-up.
