I love Halloween, especially if I am going to a party. But what about the music? Who wants to listen today’s lame hits? Not me.
Give me a list of music similar to the bangers below that will have people bumping and grooving deep into the dark, sinister night on this goulish holiday.
Have a ghastly time.
10. Time Warp — Richard O’Brien, Patricia Quinn, and Nell Campbell
A classic song with an infectious dance number to match, the tune is featured in the cult-fan favorite movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show, along with audience involvement at various movie theaters during Halloween.
9. Somebody’s Watching Me — Rockwell
The son of Barry Gordy, the founder of the Motown Records label, Rockwell painted a weird, vivid picture with this quirky song.
He enlisted the help of Micheal Jackson, singing the hook, to make it memorable even to this day, whether it is Halloween or not.
8. Freaks Come Out at Night — Whodini
This trio brought out a darker, odder element to seemingly normal people after the night set in with this 80s hip hop tune.
7. Nightmare on My Street — Will Smith
A fun and entertaining track, the Fresh Prince of Bell Air epitomized a good time, using a Freddy Krueger voice over to add a bit of a nightmarish element to the track.
6. Werewolves of London — Warren Zevon
A werewolf has escaped in London, and is looking to eat Chinese food, the song echoes. The houmous lyrics add levity to the otherwise spooky holiday
5. Theme from Halloween — composed by John Carpenter
There is no other simple piano solo at the beginning of a track that brings chills to my spine and sets the tone for terror than John Carpenter’s eerie film score for the franchise’s first movie.
The music alone makes the knife-wielding Michael Meyers larger-than-life and downright horrifying. I still get nightmares after watching the original Halloween flick.
4. Enter Sandman — Metallica
Is it just the beasts under your bed, in your closet, in your head, or is worse? Nevertheless, something unworldly is going to take you off to nightmare land.
Also, this song flat out rocks!
3. Highway To Hell — AC/DC
An ultimate driving tune, the beat will rock you to the underworld, not to mention the awesome guitar licks that are sure to have you cruising down that unforgiven turnpike to damnation.
2. Shout at the Devil — Motley Crue
A screeching, ear piercing guitar that defined the 80’s heavy metal scene, mixed in with hard-pounding drums, awesome bass lines, and wicked lyrics had a nation of hand bangers rejecting Satan and all he had to offer.
1. Thriller — Michael Jackson
In my opinion, Thiller is the best music video ever made. The song alone evokes haunting feelings of the things that go bump in the night and scare the hell out of you in the process, in a good way.
And who did not try to perform the zombie dance in the video at some point in their life?
You know you did!
