The New York Jets will partner with New York City Public Schools and the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL), hoping to extend the Nike Rivalries program by bringing the NFL Gameday experience to a high school football game between the Tottenville Pirates (7-0) and Curtis Warriors (6-1) on Friday, November 7 at 6:00 p.m. at Curtis High School (105 Hamilton Avenue, Staten Island, N.Y.).
One of the premier high school football rivalries in NYC pits these two Staten Island high schools against each other, as they lock horns for the Lieutenant Nick Lia/Captain John Drennan Memorial Trophy.
Lia was a member of the 1964 undefeated Wagner College football team and died in the line of duty in Vietnam, while Drennan lost his life after fighting a fire in SoHo, Manhattan in March of 1994.
The NFL is launching a four-season initiative to spotlight its most iconic rivalry games, featuring exclusive Nike-designed uniforms and fan swag. As part of the program, the New York Jets will debut their “Gotham City Football” Rivalries uniform when they battle the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, December 7. This campaign honors rich local traditions and fosters community pride through city- and team-specific designs that bring fans together.
The Jets and Nike will enhance the gameday experience for the teams and fans with school-branded giveaways including shirts and rally towels. Throughout the game, fans will have LED wristbands for immersive crowd-inspiring experiences. Additional elements will include Jets Legendary fullback Tony Richardon as an honorary captain, on-field competitions for students, Jets In-Game DJ and spin master Jon Blak, and a Super Bowl ticket surprise giveaway.
