After the Pittsburgh Pirates prospect worked four scoreless innings versus the Peoria Javelinas, in a Rafters’ 4-3 win Wednesday, he has lowered his ERA to 1.29 with 12 Ks, 1.14 WHIP, and .174 BAA across 14 frames.

Reed, who the Pirates selected in the fourth round of the 2023 Draft out of the University of West Virginia, added three strikeouts and did not permit a walk in the Salt River victory.

The 22-year-old righty posted a 2-4 record with 4.08 ERA in 70.2 innings between three stops in Pittsburgh’s minor league system in 2025.

Reed also spent some time with the West Virginia Black Bears (MLB Draft League) in 2023.
