The St. Joseph’s University, New York (Brooklyn) Women’s Division III basketball team used 21 points from senior Kristen Donovan en route to a lopsided 81–37 victory over CCNY yesterday in its second game of the Defend the Den Invitational tournament at The Hill Center.
The win gave the Bears a clean sweep of the two-day tournament in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
Donovan added five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the triumph.
With the victory, St. Joseph’s is showcasing is off to its best start under head coach Joe Giacchi’s tenure.

The Bears outscored 0-4 CCNY, 22-8, to build a commanding 46-23 lead at the half.
From there, St. Joe’s refused to lift its collective foot off the gas pedal as it went on to score points 35 points to the Beavers’ 14 to close out the game.
Junior Mercedes Perez contributed 10 points, six boards, and four assists, while junior Domenika Sanchez added eight points. Sophomore Emma Centrella scored seven points with a game-high nine rebounds, and Nikki Grech had four points and seven boards.
The Bears host Farmingdale State Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. in their first Skyline Conference action of the young season.
