Pace University Setters Women’s Players Sweep Weekly NE10 Conference Honors


Grace Ziogas is at the start of a breakout season with the Division II Pace University Setters Women’s basketball team, as she averaged 18.5 points per game over two wins.

Also, the sophomore guard sank 14 of 19 shots from the hardwood (.737) and went nine-for-13 from beyond the arc (.692) in 59 minutes of play en route to the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) Women’s Player of the Week honor, today the league announced.

The former New Rochelle High School (N.Y.) and Team Lightning Melious AAU player posted 20 points (7-10 FG, 6-9 3PT) and five assists against Franklin Pierce. She then put up 17 points (7-9 FG, 3-4 3PT), three helpers, and two steals against Mercy. Ziogas added six rebounds with just two turnovers while leading the Setters to a 2–0 week. 

Meanwhile, Anisa Akinola collected 16 points, grabbed seven boards, and dished out four assists across two games for Pace, averaging 8.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest, as she captured the NE10 Conference’s Rookie of the Week award.

Additionally, the Choate Rosemary Hall School graduate opened with 10 points (3-8 FG, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, and three steals in 28 minutes against Franklin Pierce, then followed up that impressive performance with six points, four rebounds, and three assists in 33 minutes of action to help secure a win over Mercy.

Akinola also chipped in two steals and knocked down 5-of-6 free throws over the two-game stretch.

Pace is off to a 3-1 start and will host Molloy tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
