Pace University Women’s basketball team used stellar performances from sophomore guard Grace Ziogas (18 points) and freshman forward Anisa Akinola (16 points), as well as an overall balanced offensive attack to defeat Molloy, 75-62, Tuesday night at home.
The Setters (4-1) took a 14-11 advantage in the first period. Then, refusing to let up, Pace outscored the Lions, 18-16, in the second quarter to take 32-27 lead at the half.
Molloy (1-5) kept it competitive, with a 20-19 third period in favor of the Setters, making it a close 52-46 game.
However, Pace put the away game with its precision 78 percent shooting from the hardwood (23-16) in the fourth quarter.
Ziogas, New Rochelle High School (N.Y.) graduate, went 4-for-9 from three-point land, while Akinola added 10 rebounds to complete her double-double effort. Senior forward Ciara Collins contributed 16 points of her own, as well as grabbing eight boards. Senior guard Ciera Cevallos added 10 points and a team-best eight assists in the victory.
The Setters travel to Felician University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
