Mercedes Perez, Nikki Grech Pace St. Joseph’s Women’s Basketball in Win Against Yeshiva; Move to 1 Game Over .500

Junior guard Mercedes Perez has been a force for Division III St. Joseph’s Women’s basketball all season long, and Tuesday night against Yeshiva (1-13) was not any different.

Perez drained a game-best 26 points, nailing five three-pointers, grabbing eight rebounds, and forcing four thefts in the Bears’ (8-7) 77-60 victory at home.

But she was not the only powerhouse on the team, as sophomore forward Nikki Grech enjoyed a stellar contest, posting a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds, both season-highs. Sophomore guard Kristen Donovan dropped in 12 points and collected eight boards.

Sophomore forward/center Emma Centrella, who hails from Varese, Italy, chipped in with 11 rebounds and eight points in St. Joe’s Skyline Conference win.

The Bears return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 17 at noon for a matchup against Skyline Conference leaders Manhattanville University at home.
