New York Mets Add Depth with Tsung-Che Cheng Acquisition


In effort to add more infield minor league depth, the New York Mets have claimed Tsung-Che Cheng off of waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays, yesterday SNY and the team announced via X.

The Taiwanese-born player was in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system since 2019 and has played a total of 507 games in the minors, hitting .251 with 35 home runs and 230 RBI.

Additionally, Cheng, 24, played in three games with the Pirates last year.
