There are not many better things than a strong New Jersey woman. In the world of sports entertainment/professional wrestling, there are plenty of them who will give you a run for your money any day of the week, bar none.
Here are three pro wrestlers from the Garden State that pack a powerful punch while entertaining the frenetic masses worldwide.
AJ Lee
Born in Union County, N.J., Lee is a bonafide hellcat. Real name AJ Mendez Brooks, WWE re-signed her six months ago and have used her sparingly, featuring her in an entertaining program with her real-life husband CM Punk against Seth “Freakin: Rollins and Becky Lynch, another true-to-life married couple.
But do not be surprised if Lee returns to action soon, as rumors begin to swirl as WrestleManina approaches.
Moreover, Lee holds star power, considering she has captured three WWE Divas Championships, and is wildy popular among her faithful fan base.
A current All Elite Wrestling (AEW) competitor and Ring of Honor (ROH) Champ, not many women can out technical wrestle Purrazzo, who was born in Livingston, N.J., and raised in Jefferson, N.J.
Once “The Virtuosa” locks in her finisher, the Fujiwara Armbar — which she often calls “The Venus de Milo,” as she traps both of her opponent’s arms in an unforgiven position–it is tap out city for her poor adversary.
Furthermore, she is accomplished as they come, currently holding the inaugural Ring of Honor (ROH) Women’s Pure Champion, and has held ROH Women’s World Champion, and is a three-time TNA/Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Champion.
Also, Purrazzo spent some time wrestling in WWE’s NXT, and all over the United States and world, including Japan and Mexico.
There is no denying that Venuto is one of the toughest females out there on the independent wrestling circuit, earning the nickname the “Bad Chick.”
The Belleville, New Jersey, native continues to prove it all the time she enters a squared circle. In fact, with appearances on Impact TV, there has a groundswell of support for the company to sign to a contract.
She has captured the Belle 2 Bell and Warriors of Wrestling (W.O.W.) titles and is a 6-time ISPW (Independent Superstars of Pro Wrestling) Champion, among other accolades in various wrestling federations across the country.
