Manhattan high school basketball recently showcased strong performances. Baruch College, Norman Thomas, and East Side Community all secured victories, led by standout players scoring impressive points and contributing to their teams’ successes in the PSAL.
Leon M. Goldstein High School won its first league game of the season, defeating Sunset Park 63-31, led by senior Riley David's 18 points, with solid contributions from Myrianthopoulos and freshmen players.
The Canarsie High School girl's basketball team triumphed over Brooklyn Studio Secondary, 73-7, with Giada Rossettos scoring 18 points. Their defense held Brooklyn scoreless for three quarters, improving to 2-1 in the season.
Tottenville High School's girl's basketball team secured an 81-5 win against Port Richmond, led by Grace Anderson's 20 points and Brianna Ardolic's 17. Strong defense resulted in two scoreless quarters for their opponents.
Ty Newsom, a 6-foot-5 guard from St. Luke's High School, received a Division I basketball offer from William & Mary, adding to his offers from multiple schools after exceeding 1,000 career points last year.
Jahda Swann, a guard from Thomas Jefferson, Brooklyn, committed to Hofstra's Division I basketball program, averaging impressive stats in the PSAL, with multiple offers from various universities. Hofstra starts 2-3 this season.
Asher Elson, a basketball forward from the Class of 2026, has verbally committed to Xavier University, choosing them over several offers. He averaged 15.30 points and 5.35 rebounds in high school.
Morell Toney, a guard for St. Mary's High School (N.Y.), has received his first Division I offer from Murray State. Known for his skills and scoring ability, Toney transferred from Uniondale High School.
Jasiah Jervis, a guard from Archbishop Stepinac High School, has committed to Michigan State for basketball. The 6-foot-6 shooter has also received offers from top programs such as Georgia and Villanova.
P.J. Singleton, a 2026 guard from Canarsie High School, has committed to Austin Peay State University for basketball. He averaged 20.15 points in high school last season and held several offers from other schools.
