Anthony Dirocie Leads Cyclones to 3-2 Comeback Win with Three-Run Shot Against Tri-City

The Brooklyn Cyclones (24-21) didn’t have an answer to ValleyCats’ (25-19) pitching until the bottom of the sixth inning when centerfielder Anthony Dirocie stepped to plate and slugged a three-run bomb for the 3-2 lead that would stick for the eventual win Wednesday night at MCU Park.

Dirocie enjoyed a stellar game, going 2-4 with a homer, three RBI and a run scored.
Although starter Josh Walker (1-1) got off to a shaky beginning, surrendering two runs in the top of the first frame, the lefty settled down for the victory.

Walker allowed just the two first-inning runs, along with six hits, one walk, and fanned five in five innings of work.

Reliever Youdy Colon closed out the tilt for his third save of the season.

The Cyclones, the Mets short-season A squad, are tied for second place with the Auburn Doubledays (Washington) for the New York-Penn League Wildcard.

Mets third baseman Todd Frazier, who’s on his second day of rehab assignment with Brooklyn, went 1-4 in the game.
