It’s official: Oak Hill Academy senior combo guard Cole Anthony has decided to attend the University of North Carolina in September, he announced on ESPN’s GetUp! TV show this morning.
After narrowing his choices to four schools, the number 2 recruit on ESPN’s top 100 high school basketball list chose the Tar Heels because the son of 12-year NBA veteran Greg Anthony said the school’s hoops program feels like family to him.Ā
Additionally, Anthony said he’s chomping at the bit to get to the Chapel Hill school.Ā
“”We really pushed this decision back a lot,” said Anthony, who was an outstanding student-athlete at Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, Queens, for three years. “We really just kept looking at all our schools, and I just always ended up winding up going back to Carolina. It felt like a family to me. I love Coach (Roy) Willams, Coach (Hubert) Davis. If it was up to me, I’d be on campus tomorrow.”Ā
The McDonald’s All-American and game’s MVP selected North Carolina over Georgetown, Notre Dame, and Oregon.Ā Ā
