Four Players from the NY/NJ Area Represent the 2019 Women’s World Cup Team

There’s no doubt that the 2019 USA Women’s World Cup soccer team is a force on the international pitch this year. And women from the New York/New Jersey area represent the world’s top-ranked and defending champion team with a group of talented players, who helped demolish Thailand, 13-0, in Remis, France, yesterday in round 1-Group F action.

By the way, forward Alex Morgan, a Diamond Bar, California, resident, banged home a record five goals in the win. 

Crystal Dunn

Dunn hails from Rockville Centre, Long Island, and is a natural attacker for the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club North Carolina Courage. But the coaching staff converted her to into a left back for the national team.  

Making her World Cup debut, Dunn had an assist in the lopsided victory over Thailand. 

Tobin Heath

Heath, who is a native of Baskin Ridge, New Jersey,  is a right winger for Team USA. A feisty player, she knows how to ignite the team, whether passing or scoring; she has found the back of the net eight times in her past 12 appearances, including markers in consecutive contests against contenders England, Brazil and Australia.

Allie Long

Long, appropriately named, is another Long Island lady, living in Northport, New York.

She is a midfielder currently playing for the Reign FC of the NWSL. 

Carli Lloyd

A Delran, New Jersey, native, Lloyd refused to be denied, adding to USA’s scoring barrage with a goal of her own.

Lloyd patroled the pitch for Rutgers University and plays for Sky Blue FC (northern New Jersey) of the National Women’s Soccer League.
