The Stony Brook School’s Meaghan Doherty Notches Double-Double in Season Opener Win


Senior Meaghan Doherty of the Stony Brook School Girl’s basketball team drained 24 points, dished out 10 assists, grabbed six rebounds, and made four steals in a 75-35 season-opener home victory versus Schechter last night. It was Doherty’s first game with the Long Island, N.Y., program.

Doherty, who played for Kenndey Catholic Preparatory (Somers, N.Y.) and Hoopers NY last season, has offers from Division II JUCO Morton College (Cicero, Illinois), D1 JUCO Monroe College Mustangs, among others. Plus, interest from D1 colleges such as Adelphi, and DIII Anderson University, per her Twitter account

The 5-foot-7 guard, who owns a smart shot selection and a high motor, helped guide Kenndey Catholic to the GCHSAA Teir 2 North Division title last year.
