Mets Ink Vladi Miguel Guerrero, Son of HOFamer Vlad Guerrero and Brother of Vlad Jr.


There is a familiar baseball surname in the New York Mets organization now. The Mets have signed Vladi Miguel Guerrero, the son of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero and brother of Toronto Blue Jay star Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., per today’s online reports.

Guerrero, a Dominican Republic outfielder/first baseman, has been inked for a reported $117,000. The deal for the 16-year-old is part of New York’s international signing class.

Baseball scouts describe him as “a physical left-handed hitter with the potential to hit in the middle of a lineup,” The scouts also noted that Guerrero owns solid pitch identification and bat speed as plus tools.

Additionally, the Mets inked four of MLB Pipeline’s top 50 international free agents. The four players are catcher Yovanny Rodriguez (ranked No. 6), shortstop Raymel Ortiz (No. 26), shortstop Yensi Rivas (No. 31) and outfielder Edward Lantigua (No. 41).
