The Long Island Ducks have signed ex-Major Leaguer Nick Heath for the upcoming 2024 Atlantic League campaign, yesterday the team announced via X.
βNick does a great job getting on base, and his speed is a tremendous asset on the basepaths and in the outfield,β Ducks Manager Lew Ford said on LIDucks.com. βWe are excited to add him to the roster.β
Health, an outfielder, spent time with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2021) and Kansas City Royals (2020), appearing in a total of 35 games while amassing four RBI, five runs, seven hits, two doubles, two stolen bases and six walks.
A speedster, Heath, 30, swiped 30 bases with the Chicago Dogs (American Assocation) in 2023. He added four longballs, 34 RBI, 50 runs scored, 58 hits, nine doubles and 52 walks.
Heath, a nine-year professional baseball veteran, played with the Charleston Dirty Birds of the Atlantic League in 2022, where he stole a perfect 42 bases in 42 attempts. Additionally, he posted a .358 on-base percentage in 76 games with the Dogs.
The Royals selected Heath in the 16th round of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft.
