Cyclones’ Nick LoRusso Walk-Offs Asheville in Nine

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, third baseman Nick LoRusso slugged his second homerun of the day, propelling the Brooklyn Cyclones, the New York Mets High-A affiliate, to a 4-3 walk-off victory over the Asheville Tourists Sunday afternoon at Maimonides Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

Additionally, designated hitter Nolan McLean, a two-way player and the Mets’ No. 19- ranked prospect, crushed his second longball of the season, a two-run shot that registered 112.9 MPH off his bat, as it rocketed off the light tower power over the right field wall.

Starting right-handed pitcher Calvin Ziegler, New York’s 22nd-rated prospect on MLB Pipeline, tossed two innings of hitless ball while striking out four and walking two hitters in the team’s third straight win.

The Mets’ Sean Reid-Foley, on an MLB rehabilitation assignment, made quick work of the Tourists, striking out the side on 14 pitches in the top of the seventh.

Lorusso stroked his first homer of the season, and career and contest, in the bottom of the third, drawing Brooklyn (4-5) even at 1-1.
