Jets Take Former Seminole QB in 5th Round of NFL Draft

The New York Jets have selected ex-Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft after trading up to acquire him Saturday with the 171 overall pick.

The Jets stacked a pair of sixth-round picks (Nos. 185 and 190) to grab Philly’s 171st slot.

Several NFL people in the know consider Travis to be an intriguing pick, with the potential to takeover under center after the post-Aaron Rogers era.

Unfortunately for Travis, his collegiate career ended after fracturing and dislocating his left ankle in Game 11 against North Alabama. But he threw for 20 touchdowns with 2755 yards and 63.9 completion percentage rate up to that point.

Additionally, Travis amassed 176 yards on the ground with seven TDs. Moreover, the belief among NFL Draft insiders is that if he had not been injured, he would have been picked sooner.

Nevertheless, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Travis will continue the rehabilitation process and should start the campaign as the Jets’ third-string quarterback if everything goes accordingly. After that, the 23-year-old will get the opportunity to learn the NFL game under the tutelage of Rodgers and backup QB Tyrod Taylor.

The rest, as they say, will be a wait-and-see approach for New York and Travis.
