After batting .266 with 10 home runs, 39 RBI, 25 extra base hits, 40 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 252 at bats in 64 games with the St. Lucie Mets (Low-A), infielder Jesus Baez has been promoted to the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones, today the Mets announced on X.
In 2023, the 19-year-old Baez, who is ranked at the 22nd position on the Mets’ prospect watch list, hit two dingers and drove in 17 runs in 138 at bats in 40 contests in the Florida Complex League.
But this season is where the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Baez is starting to form into a solid player, with a measure of pop in his stick. Brooklyn will be a good test to see where he stands in New York’s farm system. And given his youth, he will have some time to develop both physically and mentally.
The Mets originally inked him for $275,000 out of the Dominican Republic in January 2022. Â
