After smacking .361 with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League, the Minnesota Twins have purchased Tyler Dearden’s contact, today the team announced via X. Dearden will report to the Twins’ High-A affiliate, the Cedar Rapids Kernels, in Iowa.
Dearden — a Willingboro, New Jersey, native — was enjoying an outstanding season with the Ducks, leading the Atlantic League in batting average at the time. Additionally, the outfielder was tied for the league lead in doubles with 19, second in extra-base hits with 31 and third in hits with 73, total bases with 128 and slugging percentage with .634.
Long Island skipper Lew Ford will miss Dearden’s outstanding production, but he said he was very happy for him for his opportunity.

Dearden amassed a .353 OBP during his six-year run with the Boston Red Sox organization, where he reached as high as the Triple-A Worchester Red Sox in 2023.Β
The 25-year-old added a .778 OPS along with 49 home runs, 228 RBI, 204 runs, 356 hits, 72 doubles, five triples and 179 walks in 399 career games with the Red Sox organization.
Boston originally picked Dearden in the 29th round of the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft out of Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
