Staten Island’s Angelina Hodgens: Top High School Basketball Player Picks Northwestern University Hoops


Angelina Hodgens of St. Joseph by-the-Sea (Staten Island) and Jersey Gemz 17U Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) squad has verbally committed to Division I Northwestern University Wildcats Women’s basketball program, today she announced via X.

Angelina Hodgens to join Northwestern University Women’s hoops after graduation.

Hodgens, a 5-foot-10 combo guard who is one of the best players on Staten Island and in all of New York City, held offers from Monmouth,ย Scared Heart, Providence, St. Johnโ€™s, among other hoops programs.

Hodgens earned the 2024 Warren Jaques award, emblematic of the top high school basketball player on Staten Island.

Scrappy, a good dribbler, and a great shooter, Hodgens is a complete player that is not only proficient on the hardwood, but she also makes all of her teammates around her that much better, as she runs the floor. Defensively, she is tenacious, sporting a pit-bull mentality.

Furthermore, she coachable, a good student, a likeable person, and comes from a great family.

The Wildcats posted a 9-21 overall mark and went 4-14 in Big 10 Conference in the 2023-24 campaign.
