Stella Ziogas Impresses with 22 Points and Nine Assists in Team Lightning 17U Gold NE2K Victory

Stella Ziogas (New Rochelle High School) is proven she is a complete, standout guard, recording 22 points, nine assists, six steals, seven rebounds and two block shots in Team Lightning 17U Gold NE2K’s opening game 57-44 victory over the Capital City Tyrants Thursday at The Splash in Louisville, Kentucky.

Team Lightning head coach Dan Melious sang the praises of his gifted point guard.

“Stella Ziogas is special,” Team Lightning head coach Dan Melious gushed over Ziogas. “She really does it all. They follow her lead.”

Kyley Gary-Grayson (West Orange High School/N.J.) contributed a double-double of 11 points and 11 boards with four helpers and three thefts, while 6-foot power forward Skye Cameron-Pressley (New Rochelle High School) added eight points, 15 vital rebounds, four blocks and three assists.

But he did not stop at Ziogas when it came to the team’s success.

“Kyley has been tremendous for us,” he said. “She’s so athletic and makes plays out of nothing.”

However, with Team Lighting getting beat on the glass, Melious inserted Cameron-Pressley into the tilt. He said she changed the course of the affair.

“The turning point in the game was Skye Pressley,” Melious explained. “We were getting beat on the boards. She went in and had 15 rebounds. Skye changed the game.”

With the win, Team Lighting continues to roll during the July Live AAU Period.
