St. Lucie Mets’ Stellar Pitching Leads to 2-1 Victory Over Jupiter Hammerheads


The low-level Single-A St. Lucie Mets’ pitching staff was on point in their 2-1 victory over the Jupiter Hammerheads (60-62), retiring 18 batters in a row to end the game Friday at Clover Lake Park.

Four Met pitchers combined to strikeout 17 Hammerhead batters.

Right fielder Eli Serrano cracked a shot to right field to tie the contest at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

St. Lucie scored its second run after second baseman Nick Roselli lined a base hit to left field to put the Mets (43-79) ahead by a score of 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

Wellington Aracena went three scoreless frames, whiffing six hitters, while Juan Arnaud struck out the side in the 8th and 9th innings to pick up the save, his 4th of the season, for the Mets.

Three Jupiter hurlers totaled 11 strikeouts in the losing effort.

St. Lucie takes on Jupiter again tomorrow at 6:10 p.m.
