Mets Ink Rafael Ortega to Minor League Pact, Invite to Spring Training


The New York Mets have signed outfielder Rafael Ortega to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, today SNY reported on X, formerly known as Twitter, as a means to add more farm system depth.

Ortega, 33, played in 14 contests with the Chicago White Sox last season. He also batted .289 with 11 home runs and 53 RBI in 249 at-bats in 84 tilts with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights in 2024.

Additionally, he suited up for 47 games with New York in 2023.

Ortega has amassed a career batting average of.245 with 22 home runs and 110 RBI in his 437-game career across parts of eight campaigns with the Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Miami Marlins, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, Mets and White Sox.
