St. John’s Men’s basketball team used a team-best 24 points from junior guard/forward RJ Luis Jr., and 18 points from graduate student guard Kadary Richmond to upend the Ivy League’s Harvard 77-64 Saturday night at home at Carnesecca Arena.
Sophomore guard and New Jersey native Simeon Wilcher contributed 12 points and three rebounds in the victory. Junior forward Zuby Ejiofor put up eight points and eight boards.
Luis also led the Red Storm (6-2) with 10 rebounds, while Richmond, who played high school hoops at South Shore in Brooklyn, finished with eight boards and four assists.
St. John’s outrebounded the Lions, 50-34, and shot 44 percent from the field, while Harvard hit 36 percent.
The Lions (2-6) did, however, shoot better from beyond the arc, sinking 28 percent of their shots, whereas the Jonnies only hit 22 percent.
The Red Storm return to action next Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against Kansas State at Carnesecca Arena.
