The New York Mets have signed right-handed international free agent pitcher Yuhi Sako, who spent last season with the independent New Jersey Jackals (Frontier League) and independent High Point Rockers (Atlantic League), to a minor league contract, today the Jackals announced via Facebook.
Sako, 25, posted a 6-3 record with a 3.40 ERA and 78 strikeouts 92.2 innings of work in 16 games for the Rockers. Also, the Osaka, Japanese, native and 2024 Frontier League All-Star joined High Point in September and made two starts, recording 14 whiffs over 10.1 frames while walking just six hitters.
Also, Sako has played winter ball for the Yaquis de Obregon of the Mexican Pacific Winter League.
