Right now, it is a great time for independent professional wrestling, with several promotions shows all over the country and beyond, for wrestlers to ply their craft and fans to enjoy the timeless art of sports entertainment in smaller, more intimate setting settings.
When Billy Fetzke and company set out to create Titan Championship Wrestling (TCW), a New Jersey-based pro wrestling outfit, he wanted to give pro wrestling fans a different experience, while bringing in formidable, gifted talent to help entertain the masses.
“We established it to keep it (indie pro wrestling) going,” Fetzke said. “I’ve been a lifelong wrestling fan. I’m no longer of wrestling fan, but I love the business side of it. Some are wins, some are loses (money-wise), but we are always looking to set ourselves up for better future shows.”
While some independent federations give you a bare-bone show experience, TCW delivers all the bells and whistles it conceivably can, helping to rise above the competition on the crowed indie pro wrestling landscape right now, Fetzke emphasized.
“The thing about Titan is we have good production that sets us apart: pyro, fog machines, cold spark machines, planes (for outside shows) and LED lights,” the Staten Island native explained. “We know what we are doing. My partner Charlie DeLutri is a professional pyro technician. The fans seem to really like it.”
The amenities are cool and all, but it is the talent that continues to sparkle inside the squared circle that keeps the fans entertained and coming back for more. Plus, the soap operatic vibe TCW and its 12-person crew that they work hard on, on a continuing basis.
“We’re a story line-based company, which is extremely hard to do. But we work hard on keeping things fresh and relevant,” Fetzke said. “And we have a lot of great wrestlers, like (current TCW Heavy Weight Champion) Pj Savage, Daniel Alexander, Anthony Gangone, Blockz, (current TCW Light Heavyweight Champion) Justin Bongiovi.
Additionally, like Frankie Pickard, Amity LaVey, Tiffani Avatar and more highlight the standouts of the promotions.
“In indie wrestling, things change so much, but you have to adapt, and we do” he added. “We’re very confident in our roster and our brand. We have had some big names come in and wrestle for us.”
Entering its fifth year in business this month with an anniversary show on Saturday, January 11th, company growth and development, as well as fan satisfaction, will be front and center for TCW.
Also, the federation will have ex-WWE wrestlers Babathunder and Shane Douglas at Monsoon: the 5-Year Anniversary event.
When TCW does have a financially successful show, the money goes right back into the promotion to make across-the-board improvements.
“If someone sponsors us, it goes right back into production,” he said. “We’ll get new canvases, new ropes, turnbuckles. We’re always looking to do better. We’re in the process of looking for new barricades and a box truck.”
In 2025, TCW is looking to put on events in six different states, hoping to entertain wrestling fans across the eastern seaboard and beyond, while publicizing the company, and providing fans with unforgettable moments, Fetzke noted.
“That’s the biggest things we are focusing on,” Fetzke said of getting TCW out there more and making the federation’s events remarkable outings for all its supporters this coming year. “2025 is going to be about the experience. Come and see what it’s all about.”
