Ex-FerryHawk, Central Arkansas Baseball Alum Kolby Johnson to Ink Minor League Contract with Red Sox


Former Staten Island FerryHawk and University of Central Arkansas Baseball alum Kolby Johnson is to sign on with the Boston Red Sox organization, recently multiple outlets reported.

The Pearland, Texas, native slugged .308 with 11 home runs, 62 RBI, 24 doubles and stole 32 bases in 429 at-bats in 112 games in the 2024 season with the independent FerryHawks.

Before that, Johnson, 25, hit .361 with five longballs, 22 RBI, and 16 base thefts to go along with a .450 OBP, .578 SLG percentage and 1.029 OPS with the Trenton Thunder of the MLB Draft League in 2023 before finishing out the season with Staten Island.

Johnson played five years of college baseball at Central Arkansas, where he hit .278 with 15 dingers and drove in 98 runs.
