Gastonia Ghost Peppers of the independent Atlantic League have re-signed utility fielder Alan Alonso, general manager Brady Salisbury announced on Friday.
Alonso spent the second half of the 2024 season with Gastonia after the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs traded him to the club. Alonso hit .239 with a .714 OPS in 45 games and sparkled defensively at third base, second base and left field.
Alonso, 26, attended the University of Mount Olive and Delaware State University before turning professional and playing with the Pioneer League’s Northern Colorado Owlz in 2022 and Bosie Hawks in 2023.
The Ghost Peppers open the 2025 Atlantic League campaign on Friday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. at home against the York Revolution.
