The BIG EAST named St. John’s Men’s basketball standout guard Kadary Richmond Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Richmond, a former South Shore High School (Brooklyn) player, averaged a team-high 17.5 points, shooting 51.9 percent from the floor and 77.8 percent at the free-throw line to help lead the Red Storm to wins at DePaul and UConn last week.
A big reason for St. John’s BIG EAST 15-2 dominance, he added 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 27.0 minutes of play.
Richmond scored 17 points and grabbed nine boards in an 82-58 road win against the Blue Demons.
Also, the graduate student posted 18 points, four assists, two steals and two blocks in an 89-75 victory over UCONN at Madison Square Garden.
This season, Richmond is averaging 12.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.0 helpers and 2.0 thefts per tilt.
