The Somerset Patriots, the New Yankees Double-A Eastern League affiliate, have announced that on Friday, August 1st, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Babe Ruth Bobblehead giveaway.
The Patriots will take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 7:05 p.m.
Ruth smashed an incredible 714 home runs over a 22-year MLB career. The outfielder and pitcher’s best power seasons came in 1921, when he slugged an amazing 59 longballs and drove in 168 runs, and in 1927, when he went deep 60 times with 165 RBI.
In addition to his amazing offensive prowess, Ruth, who passed away at the age of 53, posted a 94-46 pitching record with a 2,28 ERA in parts of 10 seasons with the Boston Red Sox and Yankees.
